“A hymn for these dark times that both soothes and uplifts. Its message of hope, delivered with steady conviction (and help from FDR), is hard to resist.”

Nick Cristiano, The Philadelphia Inquirer

“Regen has a knack for writing lyrics that weave hope through heartbreak.”

Brian Zimmerman, Jazziz

“This is my jam today. Laid back right on new single from Jon Regen gets me in the mood.”

 Neil McCormick, The Daily Telegraph

“Five stars. Jon Regen demonstrates the depths of his musical vocabulary on ‘New Prayer,’ joining his uncanny pop sensibilities with his love of jazz and a tasteful dash of the avant-garde.”

What People are Saying About Higher Ground

“Jon Regen has a rare combination of elements - virtuosic playing ability, soulful singing, and a strong songwriting talent, all developing more and more as he grows and grows as an artist through the years. Give him a freaking listen!”

BRUCE HORNSBY

"He's a really classy singer, he writes beautiful songs, and he's got a great new album called Higher Ground that's really wonderful."

JAMIE CULLUM, BBC RADIO 2

“Jon Regen’s new album is one of the best things we’ve heard so far this year.”

GARY GRAFF, BILLBOARD

"Over a steady electro-pulse and a warm bath of synths, Regen, a New York-area singer, songwriter, pianist and journalist, reflects on what we’ve done to our world and what we can all do to salvage it before everything is ruined... A powerfully introspective political rock song."

ROLLING STONE

“With smooth as silk vocals and a jazzy groove, synth lines, slick bass and a very cool vibe, Regen makes ‘Wide Awake’ contemporary and relevant.”

PARADE

"FOUR STARS. Regen glides between jazz, blues, R&B, and pop, slyly dividing his time between introspection and celebration. He remains a gifted purveyor of sophisticated uptown pop."

ALLMUSIC

"THREE AND 1/2 STARS. The piano man has always exuded an impeccable stylishness, a blend of earthiness and sophistication that recalls such fellow masters of the 88s as Allen Toussaint and Bruce Hornsby (a big fan)... Regen moves easily from elegiac ballads to bursts of boogie and New Orleans-flavored R&B, making them all seem of a piece. "

THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER

"His best jazz-pop album to date. Jon's voice has a hip sophistication—relaxed but shrewd—and the shifting songs have a way of growing on you."

MARC MYERS (THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, JAZZWAX)

“Just when you think there are no more classic songwriters out there in the landscape, a Jon Regen comes along.”

ROB THOMAS
